山桜はきめの細かい木肌と温かみのある色合いから優しい印象がありますが、こちらの山桜はかなり癖の強いタイプ。緑がかった褐色の筋を取り込んで、ゼブラ柄のようなワイルドな印象に仕上げました。山桜ならではの飴色へと深まるにつれ、上品なコントラストに変化していきます。

ひと癖あるから飽きがこない。木というのは、つくづくヒューマンな素材です。

Japanese cherry is known as calm appearance due to its smooth skin and warm color, but this Cherry is quite unique. The greenish-brown streaks resemble a zebra pattern wild. As the color deepens into amber, the contrast becomes mature.
Because it’s unique, it never get boring.
Wood and human, We are very similar.

黒柿は、古くから茶道具にも用いられてきた、日本を代表する銘木です。
その無垢材は、擦っても欠けても内まで黒く、木粉一粒に至るまで真黒です。

今年もたくさんの皆さまに心を寄せていただき、〈su Ha〉のものづくりを続けることができました。誠にありがとうございました。

皆さまにとって、新年が晴れやかな年となりますようお祈りしています。

近年、一年が不思議と長く感じられます。年を追うごとにその傾向があるため、時間の感じ方について調べてみると、「新しい経験」を記憶に残そうと脳が詳細に経過を記録していると、時間が長く感じられるのだそうです。

今年の仕事納めはあわびの選別。一枚ずつ指でたどりながら、ウエストの丸みに沿う曲率の貝殻を選び、貝細工職人へ届けました。新作もどうぞお楽しみに。

The final work of this year was sorting abalone shells for a new product. I traced each curve with my fingers, one by one, and handed them to the shell craftsman.
